Germany:

A Kosmische Klang

For the music fans born during or after the Sex Pistols era of popular music, there is a false narrative that the 1970's were a vacuous pop and prog wasteland. However, hindsight has shown that the creative mantle was passed from the explosive swinging London, NY and San Francisco to a youth longing for experimentation and, in the case of the German artists, a chance to forge an identity cut off from the war altogether. They looked skywards and they looked inwards and delivered a music so powerful, diverse and inspiring that here in the roaring twenties we are appreciating it more and more.. Join Bandola as he plays a small selection of his favourite 1970's Deutsche tunes by Cluster, Kraftwerk, Achim Reichel, Faust & more.

Shakey, the story of an adventurous spirit

Neil Young

Ramsgate Radio's Filipe Gomes, & Bandola - survey Neil Young's trek from his early 60's twang-merchants, The Squires - all the way through nearly 6 decades as 21st century socio-commentator, as well as reflective romantic.

Young's unrelenting drive to be creatively free has kept his pathway nicely gnarled, sabotaging corporate greed, baffling his audience & critics, and sometimes aggravating his collaborators. For example, when the world expects another 'Heart of Gold', Neil's muse delivers a dark epic like 'Tonight's The Night'. Brutal, beautiful and honest every time.

Neil’s impact on the music world is perhaps over shadowed by the musical super powers of the last 50 years. However, he is one of the most crucial jigsaw pieces in the vast puzzle that is music history - demonstrating to several generations that they can challenge what it means to be a successful artist. In his own words ‘just follow the music’.

Celebrate The News

The Beach Boys

Three of Ramsgate Radio's keenest Beach Boy fans turn their ears and attention to the highly anticipated 2021 5 CD Box Set; 'Feel Flows - The Beach Boys (1970-1971)'.

Although so many of us think we "know" the music of this group - they are shockingly eccentric, deeply meaningful, and much of their catalogue could be included with the very best of adventurous pop music ever. Sunflower & Surf's Up- presented a Beach Boys comeback, post -Pet Sounds and the legendary implosion of Brian Wilson's mammoth SMiLE project.

Jon Nicholl, Wayne Waterson & Bandola scrutinise this amazing band,  - highlighting the reserves of determination and burgeoning talent that it took for the California legends to transcend from teen hit parade idols (then "almost-forgotten heroes" of yesteryear) into a forward thinkin' & contributing part of the post-Woodstock counterculture.

All these new 'Good Vibrations' are here to behold - so hit the 'play' button and be swept away by waves of delirious harmony.
